Transform exposed or boxed-in steel beams into a feature of the room with our handcrafted rustic timber RSJ covers.
Made in our Scottish workshop and delivered UK wide , each beam casing is individually manufactured to your measurements and designed to fit neatly over an existing RSJ, steel beam, plasterboard-clad beam or structural lintel.
Rather than trying to disguise a structural beam, our timber casings turn it into the appearance of a substantial aged wooden beam — ideal for kitchens, extensions, open-plan living spaces, barn conversions and period-style interiors.
Each cover is constructed as a hollow U-shaped beam, allowing it to be fitted around the existing structure without the weight and difficulty of installing a solid timber beam.
Made to measure
Every RSJ cover can be manufactured to suit your individual project. Simply provide us with:
• Overall length
• Visible width
• Visible depth/drop
• Details of the wall or ceiling construction
• A photograph of the beam and surrounding area
If your RSJ is being fire-boarded or plasterboarded, we recommend supplying the final finished dimensions so we can manufacture the casing with the correct clearance.
Finishes
Our beam covers are handcrafted and finished to create the character of naturally aged structural timber. Various rustic finishes and levels of distressing are available to complement your interior.
Fire-retardant treatment
Fire-retardant treatment can also be applied to the timber as an optional extra where required.
Please note that treatment of the decorative timber casing does not replace any fire protection that may be required for the structural steel itself.
Pricing
Bespoke RSJ beam casings from approximately £105 per linear metre, depending on the finished width, depth and specification.
Larger sections and unusual profiles can be quoted individually.
